Description

A nicely upholstered lounge chair model No. 416 designed by Wim Rietveld (son of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld) and André Cordemeyer for Gispen, Culemborg, 1957. This first Dutch polyester armchair was made of on piece of moulded polyester, a new technique for the Dutch furniture making market. The seat is supported by a tubular solid metal frame with rubber shock mounts. This model 416 by Gispen International Holland, is also used, in a white fiberglass version for the expo 1958 in Brussels Belgium. We have this original chairs, three still in white, one in the original terra color. This rare comfortable chair is in the authentic fabric and in good condition. The base shows some tiny spots.

On request reupholstery is possible in any kind of leather or fabric of your choice. Please ask for more information and the many possibilities by our in-house atelier. The base can be separated from the seat to send more easily.
